Electric bus charging

Client: Regional Ministry of Development and Infrastructure of the Region of Murcia

Location: Molina de Segura Bus Station and bus depots in La Asomada (Cartagena)

REGENERA has carried out the drafting, technical development, execution and legalization of the electrical infrastructure necessary to supply and recharge the electric bus fleet of the Region of Murcia in two locations: the Molina de Segura Bus Station and the La Asomada bus depots in Cartagena. The action is part of the Program of Aid to Autonomous Communities for the Digital and Sustainable Transformation of Transport, funded by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (NextGenerationEU).

In total, the project has installed 23 Ekoenergetyka Axon Easy 120 kW charging points with CCS Combo 2 connector: 8 in Molina de Segura and 15 in La Asomada.

Work carried out

  • New switching substations Ormazabal CMS-21 prefabricated units, with CGMCOSMOS switchgear in SF6 for ring connection to the i-DE network at 20 kV and remote control via ekor.UCT.
  • 20 kV underground medium-voltage lines in a double circuit: in Molina, connection to the existing underground network; in La Asomada, starting from a double overhead-to-underground transition, with 327 m of ducting.
  • Transformer substations with transformers of 1,000 kVA (one in Molina and two in La Asomada), with a dielectric made of biodegradable vegetable ester.
  • Low-voltage installation: Schneider 1,600 A main switchboards, ducting to every charging point (in La Asomada, prefabricated concrete channel with drainage) and individual protection for each charger.
  • Grounding network, protective bollards and signage for charging stations.
  • Systems for security and video surveillance, communications and remote monitoring of the chargers via the EOS MOVES platform.

This project strengthens REGENERA's experience in medium and low-voltage infrastructure for the electrification of public transport and the decarbonization of mobility.

Main equipment

  • 23 Ekoenergetyka Axon Easy 120 kW CCS/CCS charging stations
  • 3 1,000 kVA transformers in 2 Ormazabal transformer stations
  • 3 Schneider 1,600 A main low-voltage switchboards
