VPP4ISLANDS
In a world moving towards sustainability, European islands face unique challenges in their energy transition. The VPP4ISLANDS project, in which Regenera actively participates, seeks to address these challenges through innovative solutions that promote the integration of renewable energy and energy efficiency in island environments.
What is VPP4ISLANDS?
VPP4ISLANDS is a project funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 programme, whose main objective is to develop Virtual Power Plants (VPP) for interoperable and smart islands in Europe. With a duration of 42 months, this project brings together 19 partners from various European countries, including Regenera, to facilitate the integration of renewable systems and accelerate the transition to smart and green energy technologies.
What is VPP4ISLANDS?
The project focuses on:
- Integration of Renewable Energies: Facilitate the incorporation of renewable energy sources in island electricity grids, guaranteeing stability and efficiency.
- Development of Smart VPPs: Create virtual power plants capable of optimally managing energy generation and consumption on islands.
- Energy Self-Sufficiency: Implement innovative storage solutions that allow islands to become more self-sufficient and reduce their dependence on fossil fuels.
Regenera's participation
Regenera plays a crucial role in VPP4ISLANDS, focusing on:
- Energy Requirements Analysis: To study the specific energy needs of the participating islands in order to design tailor-made solutions.
- Development of Smart Functionalities: Contribute to the development of advanced tools for energy management and decarbonisation in island environments.
- Implementation of Innovative Technologies: Apply your expertise in renewable energy and energy efficiency to integrate emerging technologies into the project.
Expected Impact
It is anticipated that VPP4ISLANDS:
- Reduce CO₂ Emissions: By promoting the use of clean energy and improving energy efficiency.
- Improve Grid Stability: Thanks to intelligent management of energy generation and consumption.
- Encourage Technological Innovation: Promoting the development and adoption of new technologies in the energy sector.
Conclusion
VPP4ISLANDS represents a significant step towards decarbonisation and energy sustainability in European islands. Regenera's participation in this project reflects its commitment to innovation and the promotion of sustainable energy solutions that benefit both the environment and local communities.
