Magnitude

Magnitude - The consortium of 16 participants from the Member States will develop the project - MAGNITUDE - under the Call "Competitive Low-Carbon Energy" and the Thematic "LCE-05-2017: Tools and technologies for coordination and integration of the European energy system".

Objectives

Its main objective is to design and develop business and market mechanisms and coordination tools to enable a higher level of flexibility in the European electricity system by optimising synergies between electricity, gas and heating/cooling networks.

It features the simulation of multi-energy systems in 7 real case studies and optimisation of their operation strategies to maximise the provision of flexibility services, as well as the quantification of the flexibilities of decentralised multi-energy systems for energy markets through an aggregation platform.

The diversity among the institutions and organisations participating in the project gives it a marked international (8 different countries) and multidisciplinary character. The two Spanish companies participating in the project are located in the Region of Murcia: REGENERA and EMPRESA MUNICIPAL DE AGUAS Y SANEAMIENTO DE MURCIA, and play the role of industrial partners, focusing their collaboration on the integration and development of new business and market models and on the integration and evaluation of different energy production systems. The project, which will be developed in 42 months, has a total budget of 3.999.057,50€, financed under the European framework programme HORIZONTE 2020.
