LIFE CleanUP, known as LIFE16 ENV/ES 000169 and entitled 'Validation of adsorbent materials and advanced oxidation techniques to remove emerging pollutants in treated wastewater'.
The main objective is to validate and demonstrate a system for the elimination of ECs and other pathogenic microorganisms that are not eliminated by current water management systems, causing a great environmental and human health impact Emerging contaminants (ECs) that, through urban wastewater and effluents from wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), reach aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems, cause negative effects on eco-systemic services.
This project has a duration of 3 years, starting its activity in October 2017 and running until October 2020 thanks to the 7 members of its consortium. This project has a budget of 1.492.512€ of which the European Union has co-financed with 895.506€. Our role in this project was to design systems and the integration of new monitoring and control systems in the plants. In addition, we were responsible for the design and implementation of a photovoltaic installation with storage and control.
